A qualified occupational therapist (HES – Lausanne), Olivier Gavin took a very early interest in the individual, whether in a helping relationship or through the expression and manifestation of his being through artistic practices. He likes to understand the individual in his or her system, and to suggest ways in which each person can achieve greater autonomy on the path to well-being. Always fascinated by images and their symbols, creativity and the world of childhood, he left his work as an occupational therapist at Geneva Cantonal Hospital to embark on a five-year art course at the Geneva University of the Arts (HEAD) (plastic arts, sculpture, drawing and pedagogy). On his return to Geneva, he spent three years training in neurosensory integration. Olivier Gavin has worked in institutions with adults, children and adolescents (Geneva University Hospital, Office Médico Pédagogique, CESCO, Clinique La Métairie, etc.).
During this period, he came to understand the extent to which children are linked to their family system, whatever that may be. With this in mind, he also trained in the systemic approach to couples and families. Through years of reading, training and personal experience, Olivier Gavin has come to understand that willpower alone is not enough to heal. The powers of the mind, imagination, nature and all spirituality are at work in the process of change and healing. With this in mind, Olivier Gavin trained in classical hypnosis and then as a master practitioner in Ericksonian hypnosis and other courses in this field.
He has been practising the art of hypnosis for the past fifteen years with renewed enthusiasm. Based on objective principles, he favours a holistic, multi-sensory approach, focusing on each individual’s creative potential and personal resources. For him, hypnosis is the key to this process. He frequently works with families, doctors, teachers, psychologists and other therapists. Always guided by his intuitive, sensitive, multi-sensory approach and a practice that incorporates olfactory hypnosis, Olivier Gavin is currently completing a course in herbal medicine. He works with children, teenagers, young adults and adults, offering hypnosis, occupational therapy and parental coaching, and organising courses and training sessions.
